Once a singer in a glee club, Christy Mathewson served as a model of clean living. On the mound however, he became a fierce competitor who became one of the most dominating pitchers of all times. In 1936 he joined Ruth, Wagner, Cobb and Walter Johnson as the first class of baseball Hall of Famers.
